Pierce 50 takes advantage of price discovery inefficiencies and a fragmented market supply situation by aggregating physical gold locally in Sub-Sahara Africa (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia) for onward sale in international markets. Pierce 50 holds direct relationships with licensed refineries and brokers allowing access to the purchase of gold from small and medium sized, licensed and vetted suppliers at deep discounts. While not being held to any minimum quotas or restrictions, Pierce 50 is able to capture sizeable alpha from buying low in domestic markets and selling at market rates to the international gold markets.
In the medium term, Sub-Saharan African gold reserves and supply opportunities will remain abundant, with the small and medium suppliers being underserved because of supply chain inefficiencies and access restrictions to refineries and brokers. This creates a niche opportunity in this particular segment which represents a substantial portion of the current supply and future industry growth.
Investing in gold and gold related opportunities has been gaining momentum and has become ever more relevant as a safe-haven alternative asset. We believe that investing in a counter-cyclical asset with low correlation to traditional assets, while remaining relatively liquid, is an attractive investment proposition for investors and traders to compliment their portfolios.
